The DSCC is winding up to deliver the knock-out punch to a Republican-dominated Senate. In spite of the jockeying and bloviating of a few blowhards, the Democrats in the House and Senate have been working on a campaign to retake control of congress. We can influence the message of our party.
Sen. Debbie Stanebow writes in an email from the DSCC:
Visit our website to endorse the Democratic agenda. Plus, if you think something is missing from our list of priorities, you can tell us what specific issues are most important to you. We'll use the feedback we receive over the next 11 months before Election Day.

I took the bait. Here is the foundation of my core five point plan:
- Health
- Independance
- Wealth
- Defence
- Freedom
Details below the fold:
Health: A fair and adequate national health care system that will help American businesses compete in a world market against other nations with socialized medicine.
Independance: A progressive, sustainable, domestic energy policy.
Wealth: Balance the budget by cutting pork programs: end SDI, cancel the useless attack subs, cancel the unnecessary bombers, cancel the unwanted fighters. End the tradition of earmarking cash for private corporations in spending bills. Stop using tax abatements as an incentive to private corporations. Reform our farm aid system to stop subsidizing the petro-chemical industry.
Defense: Really support our troops with a three-stage assault on corrupted defense politics:
Stop cutting funding for the VA, supplies, and troop equipment. The Republican's easy dismissal of our soldiers' longer-term needs is simply unacceptable.
Bring dignity and respect to our troops by making a meaningful stand against the quiet complacency over war crimes that undermines their missions abroad.
Finally, put and end to the outsourcing of vital military support programs. The mercenary profiteers here and abroad are not supporting our troops effectively. Troop readiness has been on a steady decline since this outsourcing began because outsourcing doesn't benefit our troops, and it doesn't save us money anyway.
Freedom: The single most important principle of the American system of government is captured most eloquently in the Declaration of Independance: "Government of the people, by the people, for the people." We are a nation that chooses our fate at the ballot box. Citizens need to be able to trust that their voices are heard and so we need to have real honest and fair elections. Ohio's state government has self-destructed in the last year in scandal and corruption surrounding elections. We need more meaningful voting reform to establish national standards for transparent and verifiable voting systems.
