I have diaried about my husband's band in the past, but today is a really exciting day -- their debut and highly cathartic CD "War is a Wonderful Thing," is finally available! And, thanks to the failed policies of this administration, we're predicting at least three more years of musical relevance for the band. But seriously, the music is great (in my admittedly biased opinion), regardless of the politics.
I want to especially invite all Lehigh Valley and eastern PA Kossacks to the release party tomorrow night in Allentown at the North Light Loft.
More about the band and a link to a preview of tomorrow's event in the extended body.
Here's what the guys have to say for themselves:
Real West formed in 2001, in the wake of post-9/11 government hysteria and corporate media groupthink, as a shared idea between friends Mark Graham (voice, guitar) and Brandon Kwiatek (bass) to write 21st Century murder ballads about torture, collective guilt and the "War On Terror." Their sound is minimalist and rough-edged because, like countless folkies and punks before them, they reject polish and complexity in favor of authenticity and honesty. As for the meaning of the name "Real West," in the words of Beat poet Gregory Corso, "Like it means nothing, man."
And here's what one of our local music/entertainment weeklies has to say: REAL WEST TOLD YOU SO
If you'd like to hear more of their music, you can listen for free at HERE
If you are in the area, please come to the party tomorrow night. The details are in the article linked above.
Thanks for reading this, I'll check in tonight to see if anyone has posted comments or has any questions.
