"The brownshirts have arrived! Anyone willing to walk the walk needs to get to Crawford NOW!"

If you were just thinking of going, go. If you have the means to get there, get there.

There are 50-60 counter-protesters set up on the other side of the road, the police have been joined by Secret Service who have their vehicles parked in between the two groups in the triangular area that was made off limits.

Tracy says they are chanting WE DON'T CARE!!

Mike Gallager group --  they all have flags and the military families are really upset at this....as you might imagine.

Militarism Is the problem... I know Kos doesn't like this, or even understand it, but he's wrong. A single question for those who argue it: How long can you wear a field marshall's cap without becoming a field marshall? How long do you train to be a bomber without dropping a bomb? How long do you drop play mortar shells and fake bullets and paper targets? All that training ends up killing somone in a war, 9 times out of 10, a war we shouldn't be fighting. Like this one. YOu want to serve our country? Take over the IMF, take over the congress and the executive branch and start passing some laws that make sense. The army's doing nothing but creating enemies for us and profits for Haliburton. Fuck them. Think hard before you join them. If you think long enough and hard enough, by they time you answer, you'll be all grown up.

Whether or not the people who join come around to seeing the world the way we do is irrelevant -- in the meantime, they serve as extra hands for committing torture and murder.

          I was a Republican for the first 30 some years of my life, at first by inheritance, and then because I actually thought that deficits mattered when Democrats didn't think they did.  I was even an officer in my state's Teen-Age Republican and in my College Republican club.  For a long time after the party changed beyond recognition, I rarely voted Republican, but couldn't bring myself to change my registration.

          I was finally able to do it when I faced the fact that the party of Lincoln had become the party of the Dixiecrats, that it was now Republicans who insisted that deficits didn't matter, and that today's GOP doesn't even have the defense of favoring irresponsible deficits as a means of attempting to achieve social equity, as did the Democratic Party of my youth.  Instead, the justification for those deficits now is to assure that the greed of the most greedy of wealthy Americans is fully satisfied, and they are able to advance their goal of achieving a hereditary economic aristocracy.

          There's no taking back the Republican Party of which I was once a member.  Although a few of its members, such as Jim Leach of Iowa, are still alive, that party has been dead and buried for years now, and there's no chance of a resurrection.

    an anecdote...

    I shoot pool on a league team. Last week, we shot against this team that every other team groans about playing. They are loud. They are brash. They drink too much. And they annoy the crap out of every serious player in this particular league. Every week the rep. gets a complaint about them.

    As I mentioned, we had to play them last week. But since I didn't get put up, I was able to watch their antics as they played others on my team.

    These guys were quite in the beginning. But as the evening progressed...the loudness started coming back. Then I realised that they got louder as each member of their team lost another match. One of my teammates figured the deal out and won by chatting  with her opponent. She won. Another of my mates, a Vietnam Vet with the 82nd Airborne, did this whole meditation thing that put him into a zone where the loudness didn't effect his game. And another member simply stepped away when the rowdiness started to take over.

    One of our opponents let the whole thing slip when he shouted out to our captain that he didn't get why they were losing. After all, "we're acting this way as part of our strategy is to be loud and knock you off your game."

    I'm glad that I didn't have to play. Although I'm getting better with the mind-game part, I still have a long ways to go.

    The "counter-whatever it was" was part of a strategy to knock the Cindy circle off its game. There will be more. But I think that the songs and silence are a great demonstration. Also I think that there are a few other things that they could do.

    • One town reacted to a Felps rally by lining up in front of the protestors and turning their backs.
      
    • Another could be simply kneeling down and praying in silence.
      
    • Keep singing the America songs (God Bless America and Star Spangled Banner are awesome).
      
    • Stand in a silent line in the hand over the heart pose.
      
    • Recite the Preamble to the Constitution.

  This is truely disgusting. What are they feeding these people to make them have so much hate in their heart for us? I really dislike what Bush and his puppets have done to this country but I could never say I hate them because I don't. I hate what they are doing but I don't hate them...at least not yet anyway. This really is a scary time to be a American. My mother-in-law and I were talking the other day and we both have no doubt if they could, they would physically hurt a Liberal/Democrat if they thought they wouldn't get their asses thrown in jail. I would hate to run into one in a dark alley by myself.

  What a shame for our children to have to witness this type of behavior.

  These fools seem as if they are trying to replicate nonviolent protest tactics with their chanting.  Such a shame that they are chanting evil.

  As other commenters pointed out, the best reponse is to completely ignore these people.  As they chant "I don't care," read the names of each of the over 1,800 Americans and tens of thousands of Iraqis who have lost their lives in this quagmire.  For those with family representing, respectfully remember something about these victims of the GOP's war: their favorite foods, colors, movies, etc.  

  Let the public see the difference.
