I have seen that American Native Peoples sometimes show disapproval of people that have brought shame on the community by standing up in the meeting, turning their backs on the speaker and covering their heads with a blanket. If even one congressperson did this in the chamber during SOTU it WOULD BE noticed and talked about. Much more effective than a boycott. It would be a dampening of the atmopsphere during the speech. More Below.
They couldn't drag the protester out like during Bushes controlled auduience speeches, the cogressperson is not threatening the POTUS SOB and has an absolute right to be there. The only way to stop this protest is for the Speaker of the House and the Senate President Pro Tempore to interupt the speech, bang the gavel and order the congressperson to sit down. It would all be on camera. Could you imagine the speech stopped and Pro Tem (Cheney) ordering the Senate and House Sergeants-at-Arms to drag a House member or Senator out of the Chamber? It would be huge!!! Then when that scene is over, have ten more congresspresons stand up, and then next time 50. They would not be able to stop it. Imagine the interviews after! The added benefit might be that O'Craphead might go apoplectic and have a stroke right on his show. The reasons for a Congressperson to do this are several.
- Bush shows utter disregard for laws the Congress passes, eg. Warentless searches
- Bushco has frequently lied to Congress.
- Bushco refuses to inform even the Congressional Select Committees on Intelligence of his background knowledge, planning and actions on security matters.
- He more that 125 times, has placed caveats on the bills he signs, essetialy crossing his fingers and says these laws apply to everyone but him.
With this level of disdain in which Shrubette apparently holds Congress, IMHO I think a little payback is entirely justified. Boycott? NO! Backs to Bush? Many times more powerful and entirely justified!!!! It would play huge in the MSM and give a forum for pointing out what is going on between POOTUS and Congress. Please ontact your Representative and Senators and ask them to participate.
