Imagine my surprise this morning when I found a letter addresed to me from the RNC! I have been a registered Dem since the year that I turned 18 (1975)and have hated everything that republicans stand for since the beginning of the Nixon years.
I was shocked to receive this letter, then remembered that I had registered on the RNC website two years ago so that I could access their talking points (Its always good to know your enemy). I only visited the site one time as I knew that I couldn't take any more.
Anyway, according to the letter that I recieved today, I am the one randomly selected member to represent my entire district with my answers to a questionnaire. Below the fold you will find the questions....
All of the questions are to answered Yes, No, or undecided.
DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL SECURITY
- Do you support President Bush's initiatives to promote the safety and security of all Americans?
- Do you support the air strikes against any country that offers safe harbor or aid to individuals or organizations committeed to further attacks on Americans?
- Do you continue to support increasing the amount of security at airports, train stations, and all government buildings including monuments and museums?
ECONOMIC ISSUES
- Should the inheritance or "Death Tax" be permanently repealed?
- Do you support President Bush's pro-growth policies to create more jobs and improve the economy?
- Do you think that Congress should focus on cutting the federal budget deficit by reducing wasteful government spending?
EDUCATION ISSUES
- Do you support President Bush's plan to make our schools more accountable to parents and to restore local control of education?
- Should students, teachers, principals and adminitrators be held to higher standards?
- Do you agree that teaching our children to read and increasing literacy rates should be a national priority?
SOCIAL ISSUES
- Do you support President Bush's initiative to allow private religious and charitable groups to do more to help those in need?
- Do you support the law, passed by the Republican Congress and signed by President Bush, that bans partial-birth abortions?
- Do you support the President's efforts to save Social Security for future generations?
- Do you think Congress should pass legislation on the Federal Marriage Amendment?
DEFENSE ISSUES
- Do you think U.S. troops should have to serve under United Nation's commanders?
- Do you agree that our top military priority should be fighting terrorists?
- Should the U.S. continue to work on building a defense shield against nuclear missile attacks?
REPUBLICAN PARTY
Do you support the election of Republican candidates across the country and rebuilding the majorities over the next ten years?
It is chilling to me to read these questions, anticipating what is behind them. These cats are down-right evil! It is also telling to note the issues that are not addressed, such as campaign reform, extension of the PATRIOT act, domestic spying and immigration issues. Methinks the Repugs know that these are stinker issues.
The cover letter states that the responses received from this survey will help to formulate a survey to go out to "every one of the 55,000,000 Republicans nationwide".
I am not deluding myself into thinking that my responses will significantly effect the party's campaign strategies, but it struck me that a great way for anyone opposing this regime to know where they are going to strike by receiving information from the inside.
Further, the questionnaire ends with a plea for money with memberships ranging from $25 to $500.
