Dan Froomkin returns from the aether (actually, just back from paternity leave) with another must-read edition of
White House Briefing! In it, he slyly hamstrings (if one can hamstring slyly) Deb Howell's bone-headed contention that the Abramoff affair is a bipartisan scandal.
In the subsection titled "The Abramoff Pictures," Froomkin responds to the "bipartisan" assertion from Scott McClellan. McClellan, in yesterday's gaggle on AF1, states...
I know that there's some Democrats that want to try to make this -- try to engage in partisan attacks. But what we do know from media reports is that Mr. Abramoff gave directly or indirectly to Democrats and Republicans. Trying to say there's more to it than the President taking a picture in a photo line is just absurd.
Dan responds with this, and manages to take down Howell at the same time (without mentioning any names)...
...McClellan's continued attempt to portray the Abramoff scandal as bipartisan doesn't exactly help his credibility on the question of White House meetings. His assertion flies in the face of the facts and is a Republican talking point espoused only by the most partisan or most credulous.
Oh, Dan. How I've missed you. :)
I didn't see this diaried before I started typing, and if one popped up while I was composing this one, I'll remove it. But be kind, this is my first diary...
