Tomorrow, we'll be sending out news of the 50+ question poll we commissioned zogby to do.
We have a lot of exciting results. This report gives a teaser-- but some very tantalizing info.
The total poll will be based on 700+ respondents in PA.
It asks a lot of questions on the Santorum Senate race and 27 other poll questions progressives want answers to, about electronic voting, impeachment, election reform...
We believe it is the first full poll commissioned by a progressive website (Bob Fertik and David Swanson of impeachPAC, afterdowningstreet and democrats.com get credit for piggybacking polling questions on impeachment onto existing polls first.)
Casey refused to respond, so we constructed his positions from media and speeches.
Our preliminary finding, with 275 responses in out of the 700 we expect shows some real suprises.
Some boilerplate we want to be clear about.
One of the reasons we went with Zogby was because we wanted to get real information, not just another internet poll. We wanted to see the stats when a professional, non-partisan pollster did the polling and helped in the design of the questions, so they would not be skewed to set up answers. The Zogby company's position is that Zogby is a public opinion research company, not a progressive nor a conservative pollster. They do not advocate. They do work for clients who hire them, regardless of their political persuasion, and they provide the clients with objective data that may or may not benefit their cause. A Zogby spokesman made it clear to me, "We do not skew results to fit the desires of our clients. " And that's what OpEdNews wants. The truth.
It's the first poll to include all the PA senate primary candidates and to provide policy positions on all of them.
Once people find out about Casey's positions on issues, his 12 point lead collapses to two points.
Once people learn about all the candidates, any Democratic candidate is in what seems to be a statistical dead heat with Santorum, but all democratic candidates beat him by slim margins.
One of the issue questions is about paper ballots. With 275 responses, there is a huge response in favor of paper ballots... HUGE.
These numbers are not final. Final results will be in tomorrow. My comments are, and this is important, without the consultation of the Zogby organization.
