This morning the Today Show made a feeble attempt at removing the egg from their face. Tim Russert came on to analyze yesterday's news events and was asked about Couric's interview with Dean and the topic of Abramoff monies going to both parties.
Russert reinforced the bipartisan meme about the scandal. This time they had Lauer interviewing Russert and showed a graphic with a picture of Abramoff with an arrow flashing toward a Republican icon. The picture of Abramoff flipped and an arrow spread out to a heading bar that had Abramoff + Clients with arrows flashing toward both Republican and Democrat icons.
When Lauer asked Russert if indeed the scandal was biparatisan, Russert said yes without flinching. He stated that lobbying monies go to both parties and that's why Democrats want to be included in reform efforts.
Did you expect anything different? The irony of this whole thing came up later when Couric was discussing the Million Little Pieces controversy with someone (I was not watching, just listening) and she asked if publishers were doing fact checking on books before being published and if not should they. AMAZING.
Some have argued that we should just stop watching these programs but if we did, they will just keep getting away with misinforming their viewers.
