Let's talk about being pro-life for a minute.
Most Democrats are pro-choice, this is true.
Most Republicans are pro-death penalty, of course. Regardless of the facts of any case, there's nothing in an execution that's a pro-life act.
Let's talk about some other Republican policies. Just this week, we cut the amazing sum of $39 billion from the budget deficit (over five years) by throwing people off Medicaid. People will die earlier than they would have otherwise (we all die at some point or another, after all) because they can't afford medical help. No one in the Republican Party intends to kill these people, but it's the natural consequence of their policy. It is not pro-life.
The Democrat way would be to end most of the tax cuts, which admittedly would result in some people paying more in taxes.
The war thing is almost self-evident, but we did get attacked. Again, although Republican intentions are good, there has been nothing pro-life in the Iraq invasion policy.
The Democrat way would have been to get the people who attacked us, which admittedly might mean that Saddam would still be in power. Saddam was neither the most powerful nor the most dangerous threat. (That's not second-guessing, George, a lot of us called it before it happened.)
The Bush variation of Republican environmental policy is a disaster. More pollution in our water and air means that more people will die than would have otherwise. The Republican argument is that environmental regulations hurt the economy, but the economy was better in the '90s with Democrat environmental regulations in place. More people will die as a result of Republican policies, which of course is not pro-life.
On every single issue other than abortion the Democrats are the pro-life party.
