A new,
New York Post article suggests that there's an even amount of support among activists for Pennacchio and Santorm. In the Bucks county race, Casey got 188 votes, Pennacchio got 176 and Sandals got 4. Pennacchio stole the endorsement from Casey. The same thing happened in Lancaster County too. Casey had a strong lead in the gubernatorial race too, then it collapsed and he lost to Rendell. Casey IS a loser who chokes and can't cut it when the going gets tough.
The OpEdNews / Zogby Peoples poll asked 850 voters how they'd vote, matching all the candidates head on, then gave the panelists info on each candidate's positions on issues. Casey lost his lead entirely and Pennacchio ended up pulling a higher percentage of votes. Moreover, the African American support for Casey dropped 50%. Rendell's choice of Casey, in a year where HE will be running against African American Lynn Swann could cost Rendell the Gubernatorial race, since Blacks may choose to stay home rather that vote for a ticket they are not happy with.
There's a horse-race here. The story is not that the Dems can't get their act together. It's that grassroots dems, and not just a few activists, are not taking the imposition or annointment of a candidate by the DLC centrists. They're fighting back and Pennacchio is coming on strong, with almost no money, while Casey's weak support is get weaker.
This is a dangerous race. A Casey win will set the Democratic party on a course that betrays women't rights. The DLC fake Democrats will claim that the way to win will be to foresake women's rights and choose candidates who oppose abortion. This is heresy. Rendell deserves to lose his election for pulling such a move, and Schumer and Reid who were also involved in Casey's "annointing" should be drummed out of office when their next elections come up.
This article shows Casey with a 47% to 35% lead. That's at least a 5% drop from all the other polls, which have had him with pulling more than 50% of the votes against Santorum. It makes sense for Santorum's pull to drop, as Bush's and the Republicans poll stats plummet. But Casey's drop is an ominous one for those who claim he is a sure winner.
Regarding the county endorsements. Keep in mind that only about a dozen of PA's 67 counties actually endorse candidates. The rest allow an open primary.
The question is, why are all these mega-corporation owned newspapers still saying that this is a sure race between Casey and Santorum? Which state daily will show some integrity and start treating this election like there is some democracy emerging here, despite the worst intentions of Rendell, Schumer and the other spineless Dems who refused to trust WE THE PEOPLE?
One Last thing. Santorum brought in over 25,000 signatures on his petition to get on the ballot. Casey didn't get 10,000. Casey has a weak grassroots base, considering he has the endorsement of all the high powered DNC, DSCC people who have come to PA to raise money for him. His arrogant, stealth candidacy, which Santorum is portraying as a cowardly, avoidant campaign, is badly planned and built upon the assumption that mindless Democrats will, like sheep, support who they are told to. Some will. But PA Democrats are waking up. There are plenty who will reject Casey BECAUSE of his tactics and the way he's been aggressively thrust upon the PEOPLE of the state.
