Thanks to the ever seeking eye of the brilliant James Wolcott we have this to mull over:
Box Turtle Ben may be gone from the 'MSM' he loathes so much, but his legacy certainly hasn't been forgotten. In fact, one embittered rightwing Ann Coulter wanna-be that never quite reached those lofty heights of wingnuttery thinks that there should be even more consequences: a further exploration of other well-known conservatives thieving from other conservatives to get ahead.
Did you know that former Fox News and current MSNBC rightwing uberblonde Monica Crowley is actually banned from the rightwing Op/Ed Pages of the Wall Street Journal? Because I didn't.
Why?
Other Conservatives Got Away with Plagiarism
For an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, Crowley lifted whole passages about President Nixon from a Paul Johnson article in Commentary. She never admitted to it. She's banned from the Wall Street Journal because of it.
Debbie Schlussel Sings the Blues
Did you know that Swiftboat Liar for Bush founder Jerry Corsi was a pincher of other people's venom? I didn't.
When I pointed out, not too long ago, that whole portions of a column I wrote were flat-out ripped off by Jerome Corsi, co-author of the best-selling Swift Boat veterans book against John Kerry, his WorldNetDaily.com editor, Joseph Farah, refused to do a damn thing (but add a tiny link to my column--Big Deal).
And what was the victim of Pinchy the Rightwing Clown told by the community she shills for:
Some conservatives told me to "take one for the team." Huh? I don't think so
Jerome Corsi and Monica Crowley have apparently been skating along 'borrowing' other people's prose to get along for quite some time now. The image that the vast majority of the right projects is that the conservative movement is more patriotic, more honorable, more in touch with America's true values that its critics. I guess if stealing, lying, and distorting reality to get ahead is America's 'true values', the American right is on to something.
But back to lil' Debbie and her lashing out. Ouch. That's a lot of pent up frustration and anger there. I guess that '11th commandment' thing was apparently invented for a reason... without it, discourse on the American right might look less like Fox News, and more like Lebanon in the 1980's.
