I awoke this morning thinking about how the POTUS was chastising the public and the Press the other day for not caring about the good news in Iraq. Whoaaaaaaaa. Back up a minute. I like hearing the good news. We were told that the Iraqi people would welcome us with open arms and flowers. This is what we expected and that is what we expect. We expected all would go smoothly and all we would hear is good news. We expected schools to be built and Iraq to be left a free nation standing on it's own. Americans always hope for the best. It is when that expectation does not happen.
A child playing around in a back yard is good news. We expect the child to be happy and enjoy her frolicking. When the child falls down a well, that is bad news and leaves us all fearing together for her rescue. When the child is saved, that is good news and we rejoice. The bad news AND the good news were reported.
More on the flip.....
The problem in Iraq is that there are more 'well' stories where people are dying and chaos is happening than news we can rejoice in hearing. The President said that 'No President likes to go to war'. Well, the vast majority of Americans do not like to go to war. So why did this President lie and manilupate intelligence so that he could go to war without real reason. Why did he have to rush into this. (Forget the weather.) This was all HIS idea to go to war and he has a lot of nerve gripping that WE are the bad guys here because we are paying attention to all the bad news. He is totally Fuckless.
And one more example of good news and bad news. Katrina. Bush's good news was McCain's birthday cake and a new guitar. That is what he would have liked being the headlines. Not the devastation of dying, drowning, starving, poor people. Would it have been better to concentrate on the people who made it out of New Orleans and were dry and safe in another state rather than show the reality of a hurricane? Well, it is the same in Iraq. The reality of this war is chaos, death, and no end in site. And that is the news we are hearing and worrying about. This is Bush's war and he does not want to hear the bad news or for us to point it out. That would be saying that he made a big mistake. And he did.
America burns while Bush fiddles.
