Every Dem in PA should be voting for Chuck just to prove he is stronger than Casey. This will produce an incredible springboard-- underdog beating the beltway boys.
First, let's talk about money. Bob Casey has raised millions, compared to tens of thousands for Chuck Pennacchio and half a million that Alan Sandals has mostly put up out of his own pocket, or borrowed.
I say that Casey's money is meaningless. When Pennachio wins, he will become national hero-- the underdog who beat the beltway insiders, with Paul Wellstone inspired grassroots people power, and the money will pour in. All the DLC dems who were doing fundraising for Casey-- Kerry, Clinton, Obama, even Reid and Schumer, will do even more fundraising for Chuck.
Casey's limp, boring personality is a major liability. Chuck's charisma is a huge strength.
Casey's positions are evasive, vague, half-assed and avoid taking a real stand. Oh, he supports better CHIP. Big deal. He observes there's a problem in Iraq. Whoah!! Profound.
People can see. They can see he is a shadow candidate. They can see he is owned by all the PACs, all the big name politicos. It's transparent. With all the corruption, all the disgust with the Republican congress, Pennsylvanians are not looking for a Republican lookalike. Casey may squeeze by in November. Pennacchio will not squeeze by. He will soar across the finish line way ahead of Santorum.
If Casey wins, people will breat a sigh of relief and be glad Santorum is gone. They'll be happy about dumping Santorum. But NO-ONE is excited about Casey. NO-ONE!!. On the other hand, there are thousands of Pennacchio supporters who are passionately excited about Chuck, and all across America, when Chuck wins, people will take heart, that the people's candidate, the independent, who went against the odds, who took on the big guys with brutal odds, won.
If you want to see a strong win in PA against Santorum, Pennacchio is the only candidate to consider. You really can't lose. If he wins, he's in a better position than Casey would be. If he loses, then you still have Casey. It seems like a no-brainer to me.
There are those who argue that Casey is the better candidate, that he won a record number of votes. But Casey won against an unknown. I've never found any Pennsylvanian who could name the guy he ran against. There are those who say that Pennsylvanians won't elect a pro-choice candidate. But there are a lot more pro-choice voters in PA than there are pro-lifers. The last pro-choice candidate put up against Santorum lost. There's no reason to think Casey will do any better.
Pennacchio's grassroots supporters are out canvassing, with no signs of Casey grassroots operations at all and Sandals, well forget about Sandals. He has no base. The DSCC must be depending upon big money, the old, and I mean really old Democratic machine committee people and a final TV ad blitz. TV is powerful. Money is powerful. It will be tragic if a candidate that no-one is enthusiastic about wins because he has more money from out of staters and PACs. That's a sad reflection on Democracy.
Bottom line, if Pennacchio does win, he will be in a far BETTER position than Casey. Every real Democrat should be rooting for him.
