Game 1 between Edmonton and Carolina was one for the ages, and Game 2 is shaping up to be just as exciting.
The pattern is repeated tonight with Edmonton getting the better of the play but 'Canes goalie Cam Ward and the shot blocking D keeping everything out. An odd man rush the other way and a deflection on the shot has put Carolina ahead 1-0 after one period.
Take a break from politics (what!) and talk about the game.
Update: Carolina scores on the power play after Edmonton kills a 5-on-3. Ward's outstanding play has got Edmonton looking for the perfect shot and shying away from pulling the trigger. He's got that "hot goaltender energy shield" thing going. Carolina gets another with 2 seconds left in the period.
3-0 Carolina after two.
Update 2: Edmonton loses their composure after a goaltender roughing call early in the third. Doug Weight scores on a disputed (kick in?) power play goal and the game deteriorates with the Oilers spending most of the rest of the period in the sin bin. Another power play goal by Recchi seals the rout.
George LaRoque goons it up late and gets a game misconduct for a cheap hit from behind.
Series now goes back to Edmonton where the Oilers hope to get their act together.
Thanks Everyone! This was fun! CYA Saturday.
