The American Constitution gives us the right and the duty to question our government during good times and bad. Republicans may not believe it, but debate and criticism are patriotic! It's our duty as citizens to stand up and hold our leaders accountable, for the good of all Americans.
Now, with our nation facing many critical challenges, we must fulfill that duty and exercise those rights while we still have time to turn things around and get America back on track. How? By taking back Congress and ending the Bush Era of one-party government in November.
All too often, we see Democratic positions described as "unpopular" or "risky" in the press, despite widely-available polling that shows large majorities supporting the Democratic agenda. The best way to send a message to the media showing them how the public is on the side of the Democrats on the major issues of our day -- Iraq, education, health care, and the best path back to economic prosperity -- is to win back the House and Senate in November. And we can do this with your help.
I recently released a podcast that captures my thoughts about the 2006 elections. I hope you'll listen to my latest ClarkCast about the upcoming November elections -- and then subscribe to our ongoing series of podcasts via iTunes, delivered to your desktop or MP3 player every week!
Over the next few weeks, I'll continue to hit the road to mobilize Democratic activists and stump for Democratic candidates in key races across America . On July 19th, I'm traveling to Colorado to campaign with Jay Fawcett in his 5th Congressional District race. Then on July 21st, I'll be speaking at the College Democrats National Convention in St. Louis . And on July 23rd, I'll be heading back South to speak at the Florida Democratic Party's Jefferson-Jackson breakfast. I hope to see many Kossacks during my travels.
But today, I'd like to hear more from you -- to learn what you're doing in your communities to help elect a Democratic Congress. While most of you are well aware of the candidates featured on my Act Blue page, I'd also be happy to answer questions about the candidates I'm supporting and any other issues you have questions about. So please feel free to fire away in comments!
