In the documentary,
Peace, Propaganda, & The Promised Land, the case was made that there is systematic media censorship of daily news pertaining to the 39 year military occupation of the Palestinian people including reframing, de-contextualization, omission of facts, and other mechanisms, which end up characterizing Israeli as the victims and Palestinians as terrorists.
Since 9/11, through systematic shifts of language, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has more recently been brought under the purview of the "War on Terrorism," with Palestinian resistance groups like Hamas and others being characterized as "Islamofascists" in the mold of Al Qaeda. This shift has transformed Israel into a proxy of the US, which has supplied Israel for years with the armaments necessary to maintain its miliary imprisonment of Palestinians in the West Bank and, until recently, Gaza. The result has been a continuation of home demolitions, land confiscations, and what is essentially the continuing colonialization of the West Bank with apparent US endorsement. The deaths and maiming of thousands of Palestinian civilians, adults and children alike, is seldom reported. That blood is on the hands of Americans no less than Israelis.
This diary draws attention to another documentary, Palestine is still the Issue, by John Pilger (Click to see).
John Pilger presents the war in Palestine through interviews of Palestinians and Israelis. Life on the ground in Palestine as presented through this film provides a look at the reality, a perspective of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which is not seen in America due to media censorship. It looks at what the conflict has meant for innocent civilians on both sides, including innocent people, adults and children, killed in retaliatory suicide bombings inside of Israel.
