I have been here One year. I lurked for a long time, but I was hooked the first day I was here.
I have posted a few times. Since offically joining the Kos Crew. Most of mine have been news articles, most recently about health care. I comment when I can, recommend good and solid reporting.
Why was I pointed here, well it was Katrina. I needed news about what was going on and what was the aftermath. I became angry about the way our government was treating my fellow Americans. I grew up in the south, I never partied at Marti Gras, but new all about it. I have relatives that live nearby in Mississippi. I was worried about them.
I supported Kerry, and have kept up the faith in the Democratic party. I admit that I voted for Bush the first time, now I wish that I voted for Gore instead. I used to have a well paying job back in 2001. Lost in the quagmire of the Dot-com bust and 9/11. Now I am working at $20,000 less than was I was making then. I have had 4 temporary jobs working at 9.00/hr, 12/hr and 17/hr before I got this one that has bene's. I have lived the no insurance route of begging hospitals to put bills on charity care, or begging the hospital for the county poor coverage so my wife and I could have something, my kids were covered under the state programs. Too rich for welfare/food stamps, too poor to have ends meet.
Now I have a job (for the last 9 months), ends meet, kids are happy, health insurance is better than most, stress is a whole lot less. Things are looking up for us.
I can say one thing. I have been there, I know what a lot of Americans are going thru. I have helped, and will continue to help.
Thanks
