I recently came across a set of images depicting two current residents of the White House. The composition of these photos was so strikingly similar that I at once thought I had uncovered a pair of twins separated at birth. Of course, the circumstances behind each caused me to think again.
Follow me below the fold to see for yourself...
One of these photos depicts a concerned guardian, working vigilantly to protect those in his charge.
The other shows a cowardly watchdog, feigning determination in the face of catastrophe while reluctance and fear render him immobilized.
Can you guess which is which?
If you picked Barney, the White House dog, as the concerned guardian, you are CORRECT!
You see, while Barney was busy scanning the horizon for unknown dangers, Bushie was scanning the horizon for someone to blame for his failures.
While Barney was trying to protect the people he loves, Bushie was trying to protect his public image.
Barney was so worried about doing his job well that he sat in front of that window for hours on end to make sure nothing bad happened to his home.
Bushie was so worried about looking like he was doing his job well that he allowed himself to be photographed sitting in front of a window to make sure nothing bad happened to his approval ratings.
He sat for a long time.
He looked really worried.
Notice the clenched fist and furrowed brow.
But while Bushie was busy looking concerned, New Orleans was falling into chaos.
Perhaps if Bushie had put as much effort into the Federal response to Hurricane Katrina as he did in posing for those PR photos, the good people of New Orleans wouldn't have had to experience this:
But he didn't.
And they did.
...which is why I've determined George Bush must have been Switched At Birth with Barney. Barney the dog has all the characteristics the American people need in a leader: he's a vigilant guardian dedicated to protecting others even if it means sacrificing himself. But by some crazy twist of fate we ended up with Bushie the Coward as our president who is concerned with himself, his interests, and his image first and serving the American people last.
George Bush is much worse than an incompetent boob. He is dangerously disconnected from the responsibilities of his position and completely unaffected by the consequences of his indifference. God help us all if we have to face another Katrina or Sept 11 while he's still in office.
You're doing a heckuva job, Bushie.
