So as I sit here and watch Brian Williams interview our "President" (for better or....... OK, mostly worse!!) I'm yet again shocked by this whopper spilling from his lips: "The key for me is to keep the expectations low". Word for word.
(jump)
Now, it's one thing to have a bad president. we have had a few. Herbert Hoover comes to mind. Its one thing to have someone that you disagree with. Ronald Reagan comes to mind. Its one thing to have events overtake your capacity to respond. Jimmy Carter anyone? With GW however, its to the point where he is an absolute and complete embarassment to the Nation. How anyone in this country can have any respect for this guy as a leader, as a president, as the head of the executive branch of this country is completely beyond me. I cant WAIT for the day when I can talk to someone from outside the US and not have to APOLOGIZE for this guy!!
So back to his wonderful quote. Is it really to the point where for him to succeed, it has to be defined by keeping the expectations SO low that a 4th grader could do the job? We all (hopefully) respect the office of the president of the United States. I certainly do. But for the first time in my life, I have absolutely and completely lost all respect for the man that currently sits in that chair. I honestly have to question the intelligence of anyone that can continue to say that he is a wise, thoughtful, probing, or effective leader. Events of the last year have demonstrated that the GWB house of cards, propped up by the 9-11 crisis has fallen BADLY. And now the emporor has no clothes. Yet we will be forced to stare at him for 2 years. God save us all.
