I have an important
YearlyKos 2007 announcement.
As the title of our organization makes clear, YearlyKos is an event that we intend to make happen every year.
YearlyKos may have begun last June in Las Vegas, but it did not end there.
In fact, the plans for YearlyKos 2007 are humming along, and the organization has made a substantial amount of progress setting up and implementing these plans.
As you know, shortly after the convention, we solicited feedback from the Kossack community as to where it would like YearlyKos 2007 to take place. After receiving that feedback, the YearlyKos staff diligently began searching out suitable locations for next year's event. Among the criteria we kept in mind during the search: (1) we wanted a location that would be popular with the Daily Kos community; (2) We wanted a location that would be affordable; and (3) We wanted a location that could accomodate the space and logistical demands of the convention.
So here is the announcement:
We are now very very close to making our selection. The YearlyKos staff will reveal the City, the Host Site, and the dates of YearlyKos 2007 by
September 30, 2006 (and perhaps even sooner). So, keep your eyes peeled for the announcement, because it is coming SOONER than you think.
Also, you should know that, in light of the success of YearlyKos 2006, some extraordinary opportunities have come our way. YearlyKos 2007 will be qualitatively superior to YearlyKos 2006, because it will feature events that simply were unimaginable for a fledgling, new organization. We are not resting on our laurels, content to make a carbon copy of YearlyKos 2006 and run it again as YearlyKos 2007. YearlyKos 2007 will be a higher level experience. For those who like SAT analogy questions, perhaps this one will give you an idea of what we have in mind:
YearlyKos 2006 is to YearlyKos 2007
is like
Buying a carton of milk is to owning a cow
That's our goal. A whole different level of experience. (and if you don't understand what I mean -- you will when you attend YearlyKos 2007).
Now, in keeping with the spirit and model of YearlyKos, we are soliciting your feedback for next year's event. What we want from you is content, and be aware that this content will be applied to the new media available as part of the YearlyKos 2007 experience.
As an example of what I mean, suppose one of our plans for YearlyKos 2007 was to unveil a huge, stadium-size mural (note -- there is no such specific plan). What we'd want from you, here and now, as comments to this diary, are the things you'd like to see painted on that mural. In other words, we ask you to use your imagination, and understand that you are suggesting CONTENT that will be used in both the media you already know (i.e., panels of speakers), and in media which for now remains secret, for YearlyKos 2007.
And be creative. Don't feel limited by the content presented at YearlyKos 2006. Our goal is not to have Matt Stoller speak again on 19 different panels (I keed, I keed! I keed because I love!). Our goal is to transcend YearlyKos 2006 and present fresh, new content.
So, think outside the box, and tell us what type of stuff is important to you. What do you want to see at YearlyKos 2007?
Leave a comment and let us know. We have lots of volunteers now that will read each and every single one of your comments.
And, if you're feeling generous, please recommend this diary so that others have the opportunity to comment as well.
