You may have heard about the GOP's ethnic rally last Saturday in Fairfax County, Virginia, where George Felix/Macaca Allen was the featured speaker (for more, see
here and
here). And you may have heard about the recent article and photograph that the "Nation" magazine published (see
here) indicating that George Allen endorsed the Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC), a racist, white supremacist group. So how are these two things connected? It seems like George Allen was against immigrants before he was for them.
If the Allen-endorsed CCC had its way, many of the people attending the GOP ethnic rally last Saturday would never have been allowed to enter this country, or allowed to appear at a rally with a bunch of white Young Republicans. More below.
WHAT THE ALLEN-ENDORSED CCC SAYS ABOUT IMMIGRANTS AND "RACE MIXING"
The Web site of the CCC is here. If you look at their Statement of Principles (Manifest), which is here, you'll see that Allen is endorsing a group that says this:
We believe the United States is a European country and that Americans are part of the European people. We believe that the United States derives from and is an integral part of European civilization and the European people and that the American people and government should remain European in their composition and character.
We therefore oppose the massive immigration of non-European and non-Western peoples into the United States that threatens to transform our nation into a non-European majority in our lifetime.
We believe that illegal immigration must be stopped, if necessary by military force and placing troops on our national borders; that illegal aliens must be returned to their own countries; and that legal immigration must be severely restricted or halted through appropriate changes in our laws and policies.
We also oppose all efforts to mix the races of mankind, to promote non-white races over the European-American people through so-called "affirmative action" and similar measures, to destroy or denigrate the European-American heritage, including the heritage of the Southern people, and to force the integration of the races.
By endorsing the CCC, it looks like Allen was against immigrants (except European ones) before he was for them (at the GOP ethnic rally).
I think George Allen should answer if he still stands behind his endorsement of the CCC, as evidenced by the photo that the CCC ran in its newsletter. And I hope some enterprising reporters will call up the CCC and ask they if they still endorse Allen.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
We need to keep pushing on this story, so that all the voters in Virginia and around the country know the full story on who George Allen stands with. Some specific suggestions:
- Contact reporters and editors and ask that they cover this story. Suggest that they ask Allen if he still endorses the CCC. Tell them to call the CCC and ask if they still endorse Allen.
- Distribute the "Nation" article and photo by sending the link to your friends, posting a story on your blog, etc.
- Do a letter to the editor of the papers that aren't covering this news. (See the excellent example below.)
- Send a message to "Meet the Press." Next Sunday, Sept. 17, MTP will interview Jim Webb and George Allen. Use this form to send your suggested questions to Timmy. Include links to the Internet sources you cite, such as the "Nation" article indicating Allen's endorsement of the CCC.
HERE'S A GOOD EXAMPLE
Take a look at what one writer has done in this letter to the editor today in the Fredericksburg "Free Lance-Star" newspaper. Here's part of it:
The truth is that throughout his political career, George Allen has made league with those who promote racist ideology, such as the Council of Conservative Citizens, the successor group to the White Citizens' Council, under its venomous founder, Gordon Lee Baum.
While governor in 1996, Mr. Allen arranged for a photograph of himself, Mr. Baum and several of his henchmen, and NRA President Charlton Heston that appeared in the summer 1996 issue of the CCC's newsletter, The Citizen Informer. It's easily found on the Web.
The CCC is listed as a group that promotes hate by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Sorry, but [George Allen] can't just laugh off his political bedmates or his own predilections.
All the people of Virginia, including the folks who attended the ethnic rally on Saturday, should be aware of George Allen's complete record and the fervent racist, anti-immigrant beliefs that he has endorsed. I hope you'll join in the effort to get the word out.
