I want to tell you about a book. I'm not objective about this book, because I coauthored it with my son. It's alternate history - highly praised by Harry Turtledove - and it seems to be on the verge of becoming reality, real history.
Dawn Crescent was published in 2003. It's set during the Gulf War, in which my son served as a medic, and it tells about a military and political disaster which results in tens of thousands of American troops being trapped in the desert, of an army destroyed and a world turned upside down.
There were times, while we were writing it, that we thought we were going a bit overboard. "This could never happen," we told each other. And now it seems like it's about to. I hope you'll visit the link and read the sample chapters we have there. Every day I'm prouder of this book and more astonished and worried.
