The
real story of this week is finally unfolding: Republicans are
cowards.
First to run, first to point fingers, first to blame others, first to torture, first to act like deer caught in the headlights, first to run and hid after throwing a bomb at the feet of our children.
Dennis Hastert, John Boehner, cowards:
Boehner Points Finger at the Speaker
October 03, 2006 9:48 AM
ABC's Teddy Davis reports: In a radio interview with 700 WLW radio in Cincinnati, House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) placed responsibility for the Foley matter not being handled properly on House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL).
"I believe I talked to the Speaker and he told me it had been taken care of," said Boehner. "And, and, and my position is it's in his corner, it's his responsibility. The Clerk of the House who runs the page program, the Page Board--all report to the Speaker. And I believe it had been dealt with."
And I believe you are both cowards who lead a party of cowards.
Our government has been run into the ground by the
cowards in power.
Too weak, too afraid to admit mistakes.
Too weak, too afraid to make any decision that does not first take into account the interests of wealthy donors.
To weak, too afraid to accomplish one single thing beyond shoring up their political majority.
To weak, too afraid--to make a basic decision that would make sure a known sexual prowler would not have access to children sent in trust to work for the government they admire.
The weak, the afraid--The Republicans:
On Friday, Boehner told the Washington Post that he "had learned in late spring of inappropriate e-mails Foley sent to the page, a boy from Louisiana, and that he promptly told Hastert, who appeared to know already of the concerns. Hours later, Boehner contacted The Post to say he could not be sure he had spoken with Hastert." LINK
According to today's radio interview, Boehner has gone back to saying that he did talk to Hastert about Foley.
Cowards.
It should have been the 16-year-old pages who were in charge of the Republican leadership in Congress, not the other way around.
Those pages, with their idealism and their faith in our system of government--they have 1000 times the courage of these senior Republican leaders of Congress, tripping over themselves like petty shoplifters to blame the other.
"You did, it!"
"No, you did it!"
"It's not my fault the war went poorly! It's the people's fault for losing resolve!"
"It's not my fault the hurricane killed your family! It's your fault for not evacuating on time!"
"It's not my fault we were attacked on 9/11! It was the last President's fault!"
"It's not my fault a sexual predator was given free reign in Congress to make sure we could still tap his PAC for campaign donations! It was the pages, those beastly children!"
Cowards. Republicans are cowards.
For turning on Dennis Hastert, John Boehner has disgraced our Congress, disgraced our government.
For failing to admit responsibility, Dennis Hastert has disgraced our Congress, disgraced our government.
They should both step down, both be sent home to fall on their own swords.
It is time to throw these cowards out of power.
Leadership is courge.
Republicans are cowards.
Update [2006-10-3 11:2:51 by Jeffrey Feldman]:
And another thing...What kind of father or mother would raise their children to behave this way? What kind of family would raise children to blame other people for their own mistakes? Not in my America. I was raised, you were raised, we were all raised to take responsibility for what we've done. These men have turned irresponsibility into a disgusting art form--a game of dodge the bullet. The buck stops over there.
Republicans are cowards. Irresponsible cowards.
Send them all home. Keep them away from our children. Get them out.
Update [2006-10-3 11:33:23 by Jeffrey Feldman]:
And another thing...What kind of people send only poorer and less powerful people than themselves to die in wars? What kind of people blame everyone but themselves for their own history of violent racism? What kind of people bully people volunteering to participate in the political process?
Bush, Allen, Boehner, Hastert, Reynolds, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice.
Cowards, cowards, cowards, cowards, cowards.

And another thing...(from the comments):
Blaming everyone, taking responsibility for nothing. Cowards.
