So the number of diaries today dealing with the potential for election fraud in the U.S., plus the general feeling that BushCo is composed of ruthless, chickenshit, assphats who will do anything to remain in power, have me seriously worried about the Nov. 7th elections.
However, I just had an idea that might or might not work to help monitor the situation: Why don't people who live in contentious voting districts take video cameras with them to the polls to record the wait time, procedures, etc.? Then, if they witness any problems, they can post the footage on YouTube and/or some other video hosting site so people can see for themselves exactly what is happening to the voting process in America. Maybe there could be some informal exit polling done as well? Because honestly, the media isn't going to report on any problems until after the fact (when it probably won't matter) but I think that in this day and age, we have sufficient tools to be our own media.
I am genuinely concerned that if Democrats do not regain control of Congress, democracy in the United States (which is strongly dependent on the balance of power) will cease to exist. We failed to be vigilant in 2000 and 2004, but hopefully we can redeem ourselves this time.
What do you think?
If it's illegal, just a bad idea in general, or something that's already been discussed, I'll delete this diary, but I thought I'd put it out there.
