Per TPM Cafe, looks like today the corruption in the Republican Congress just reached Watergate absurdity (if it hadn't already).
Apparently, Jerry Lewis fired all 60 contract investigators who were hired to investigate waste, fraud and abuse in the $800 billion of tax dollars that the appropriations committee spends.
Aside from the fact that Republicans have no shame, I think there are two clear reasons why Jerry Lewis would do such a shamelss thing:
1) Becuase Jerry Lewis himself has already spent $800,000 on legal fees because he's one of the ones being investigated for waste, fraud and abuse.
2) Because -- and this is most important to voters -- Republicans don't want to root out waste fraud and abuse. They use our tax dollars as a political slush fund to keep them in power and they have zero interest in change.

This evening, Congressional Quarterly reports (sub. req.) that in a round of calls Monday evening, Lewis fired 60 investigators who had worked for his committee rooting out fraud, waste and abuse, effective immediately. As in, don't bother coming in on Tuesday.
The investigators were contract workers, brought on to handle the extraordinary level of fraud investigations facing the panel. Sixteen permanent investigative staff are staying on, according to CQ.
This is basically Nixon firing the Watergate special prosecutor and I hope it doesn't go unnoticed in all the scandals we're facing because it's evidence that the anti-tax middle class fares worse under corrupt Republicans than they would under Democrats.
