With a little over two weeks left until the election, the election commercials come fast and furious at the end of the 10:00 PM news. And there's finally a little good news for this DuPage County resident!
After weeks of the
Peter Roskam / RNC "Tammy Duckworth is a dirty-dog liberal!" commercials, it was nice to see TWO commercials laying into Peter Roskam. The better of the two was an ad starring - Barack Obama! - explaining how Peter Roskam lies, and Tammy supports the same immigration plan that Obama supports - John McCain's plan.
Almost as much fun was the other commercial, calling Roskam too extreme, pointing out his attempts to ban a book containing writings by Martin Luther King, Laura Ingalls Wilder and Dr. Seuss. The commercial helpfully showed the covers of books by these offers. Take a dose of your own medicine, Petey-boy!
Melissa Bean, who's done a good job laying into Dave McSweeney over his positions on abortion ("Waah, Melissa's misstating my position despite the fact her commercial quotes me!"), laid into McSweeney over his sponsorship of a bill that would've allowed oil drilling in Lake Michigan.
And finally, Dan Seals, laid into Mark Kirk for choosing to stand with the Bush administration, particularly on Iraq. This was a pretty bold commercial!
And the Republican's ads: So-and-so wouldn't vote to put our troops on the border - therefore, they're planning on opening up the US treasury and giving the money away to dirty foreigners. Memo to the RNC: those ad's aren't aging well, especially after commercials rebutting your bogus claims.
*UPDATE:* Links to the ads I could find, and the candidates websites are in the comments.
