I'm watching the Jack Cafferty-hosted program on CNN called "Broken Government." And, don't get me wrong, Jack Cafferty is speaking out (loudly!) about the wrongs in our government. I'm happy to see that!
However, I heard his interview by Sam Seder on Air America a few days ago, and Cafferty was in the mode of "throw the bums out" and unable, apparently, to see the difference between Bob Ney, Mark Foley and Harry Reid! Cafferty was referring to the Harry Reid so-called scandal where Reid put some land deal into an LLC, yet reported his ownership every year to the Senate. Sam Seder tried to explain that Cafferty was wrong in assuming a moral equivalency by lumping these guys together. Cafferty would have none of it.
His Broken Government program is excellent, EXCEPT for the very first part where he complained first about Democrats (more of the "what do Democrats stand for?") with the large by-line on the bottom stating "Broken Democrats" while Candy Crowley talked to him. Even while he and Candy were discussing the wrongs of the Republican-controlled Congress, the by-line still stated, "Broken Democrats"!
Oh well, he's discussed important issues, including the questionable voting machines, so I like him getting this information out to the public.
This new unity of progressives and "true conservatives" does seem to be what we need to get rid of this ultra-radical rightwing government, but it IS a mixed blessing. Sigh.
