I know, I know, another Kerry diary, boo hoo ... but this is new, I promise ...
So just now over on Yahoo I see this Reuters headline:
Kerry says he is sorry for "botched" Iraq joke.
So I think to myself, Shit. I thought he finally grew a pair, and now he's backing down.
Thing is, he's not. The Reuters story takes his words out of context YET A-FUCKING-GAIN and makes it seem like he's admitting wrongdoing.
Excerts below the fold ...
From
the Reuters story:
A day after rejecting calls to apologize for his remarks, Kerry, appearing on the "Imus in the Morning" radio show on MSNBC, declared: "I said it was a botched joke. Of course, I'm sorry about a botched joke."
But here's the thing. That sentence comes about four minutes into a nine and a half minute interview, in which Kerry says this:
"I'm not gonna let these guys distort something completely out of its context solely for the purpose of avoiding responsibility, which is what they're doing," Kerry told MSNBC's Don Imus.
"They've taken those words -- just like they take words all the time -- and they distort them on purpose in order to distract Americans from their policy," he said. "A hundred young Americans died last month. These guys don't have a policy."
Go over to MSNBC for the video.
He also says lots of other good things. He admits botching the joke, says it's not the first time and won't be the last. He only says he's sorry in the context of being sorry the joke was lost. He also says that it's an insult for anyone to say that he, who has fought for veterans and soldiers, would disparage our troops. He says clearly what he meant and that they know GOD DAMN WELL what he meant.
So. Yeah I know I'll get some comments about not wanting any more Kerry diaries. But this is yet another example of a Democrat's words being cherry-picked to make him look bad, this time by a "respected" news source.
We need to change the tone. Reuters and the rest of the media will only get away with this as long as we let them.
Dems! Make Some Noise! Don't be Cowards! GROW A PAIR!
