They've unpacked Cheney from his undisclosed location to
scare little children rally the troops in solidly conservative districts like Wyoming's at-large seat, CO-05, WA-05, and ID-01. Now, it looks like the GOP is seriously sweating NE-03, and they have dispatched their
biggest failure draw.
President Bush will come to Nebraska on Sunday to campaign for 3rd District Republican congressional nominee Adrian Smith.
The appearance is likely to be in Kearney or Grand Island, it was learned Wednesday. No announcement has yet been made by the White House.
An appearance by the president would be confirmation of the importance the GOP places on retaining the traditionally safe Republican seat in western and central Nebraska during this year's battle for control of the House.
Cheney has already visited the district, but it obviously did little good.
In SUSA's last 50-state poll of Bush's approval rating, Nebraska has turned sour on Bush.
What used to be a 51-47 approval rating on 9/18 became 46/52 a month later -- a 10 point negative swing.
