CNN was a valuable source at one time now Al Jezeera English is a new option and available free streaming live on-line at,
Aljezeera.net. This was the first story I seen.
13 million passports stolen or lost and a database to check them against, but only the Swiss and Charles De Gaul airport in Paris use the database to check people entering the country. Database has grown from 14,000 in 2002 to 13 million today. Technology is simple to install but not beeing used. And the kicker, The Swiss catch 100 people a month with the database. That's 100 people using fake passports to get into Switzerland. Question, how many have used fake passports to enter the USA? Don't know do we! From the Swiss numbers I'd say 500 a month here in the US perhaps. That is only a guess of course.
Wow, what a nice change in the news. I haven't had this feeling about a News channel for some time. I'm sure it'll get boring but I'm an information junkie and here is a ton of info I can get for free. I'm watching the Free feed from the
Aljezeera.net website.

Another thing that got my attention was the reference to 13 people killed in Iraq, not 13 Iraqis killed, 13 people. Yes these are people!!!
Update:
From the comments. Thanks for the link to the NPR story didn't here it myself.
"NPR covered this story yesterday, on All Things Considered.
Al Jazeera is famous in the Middle East for airing dissent about the Arab world -- and famous in the United States for broadcasting the videotaped pronouncements of Osama bin Laden.
But anchor Dave Marash, formerly of ABC News' Nightline, says the new channel will develop its own approach -- independently of Al Jazeera in Arabic. "For me," Marash says, "it's an opportunity, I think, to join the most exciting experiment in television news -- certainly in English -- in the world today."
Other new hires include journalists from CNN and the BBC, including famous interviewer David Frost. Al Jazeera International will have bureaus ringing the world and four major studios based in Washington, London, Qatar and Malaysia.
I do believe I'll check it out.
