Browsing the news stories this morning I found the following headline on the front page of CNN.com.
The headline, "Dems ready to work with GOP on 'middle class squeeze." clearly makes it sound as if the GOP is the party that wants to work on the "Middle Class Squeeze". And the headline makes it sound as if the always congenial Democrats have agreed to work with the GOP on this issue.
Of course, as is usual with the frequently fraudulant headlines on CNN, reading the story clarifies the issue:
Pelosi and Hoyer repeated that in the first 100 legislative hours of the new Congress that convenes in January, they will try to pass bills that directly affect the pocketbooks of working-class and middle-class people, including raising the minimum wage, cutting interest rates for student loans and allowing the Medicare program to negotiate lower drug prices.
But how many average Americans out there actually read these stories to the end? Not many, if the past two presidential elections are any evidence on this issue.
This appears to be another instance where the Republican Propaganda Machine, CNN, is trying to deceive readers and cloud the facts.
