DOC’S BAD JOKE OF THE WEEK:
(In the gray box so you can avoid it and not miss anything else)
Sometimes, the jokes just write themselves:
All he needs now are some celestial drops and “Jeb!’s” in business!

Shelley Sekula-Gibbs: The (Mis)Adventures Of the 51-Day Wonder!
You really liiiiike me, you want to daaaate me, and hug and kiiiiss me......"
Cheers to a citizen smackdown of SSG (scroll down a bit), in the Houston Chronicle:
I agree with the dog [dog??--ed.] who said $2 million is a small price to pay to fill the Council seat vacated by Shelley Sekula-Gibbs. She was interviewed on the Fox News Channel last week and, frankly, she was an embarrassment to the city and the state. Hopefully, we've experienced her 15 minutes of fame.
Dennis Hanovich, Kingwood
Not yet, but let’s say it’s at 14 minutes and counting. Fortunately.
Jeers to SSG, who was named Turkey Of the Year by the Houston Press. The list her achievements as has been documented in this space, but succinctly sums it up by stating, “It's nice to know she's keeping up the 22nd District's worldwide rep for nuttiness.” I’m sure Nick Lampson can turn that around starting in January!
The Musings blog (where I got the above link from) adds:
Pretty much, the story of her short term as a congresswoman is going to read, "Clear Lake Nutcase Never Had A Clue." Sugar Land cannot be blamed for this one and we are not taking one for the team.
The Rest
Cheers to top-drawer snark in my hometown paper, the Alton Telegraph, in their Sound-Off section of Nov. 25th::
America chose to put the party of Satan in power, and I have no doubt that God will punish America for electing the party of sodomites, baby murderers and that most evil and abhorrent of organizations, the ACLU. For the next two years, expect terrorist attacks, drought, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, plague and even meteors to pummel America until she puts God's Only Party back in power.
Uh, wait....I’m not sure this is snark. I sure hope that wasn’t one of my neighbors talking!
Cheers to former IL-6 Congressional candidate Tammy Duckworth, who was appointed by Gov. Rod Blagojevich to head the Illinois Veterans Affairs Department. Her main emphasis will be to backstop the Governor’s Veterans Care program, providing care to more Illinois veterans. Sounds like a great job for her. Speaking of IL-6:
Cheers to Christine Cegelis. After she was thrown under the bus in the IL-6 primary (won by Tammy Duckworth, with a big assist from the DCCC) she could have taken her ball and gone home. Instead, she worked hard on behalf of the Americans for Democratic Action to get Democrats elected to Congress. Their combined efforts in the races she worked resulted in 6 Democratic victories out of 10 races (with NC-08, Larry Kissel, still too close to call). (n/t Damn Liberals)
Cheers to the gift that keeps on giving. Just think of the possibilities for custom-printed toilet paper:
[W]e ordered a set of rolls imprinted with a photograph of multitalented international superstar Paris Hilton, and we can state in all honesty that we have not been contacted by her attorney so far that we are aware of. And if that is not the true meaning of the holiday season, we don't know what is.
Jeers to the new diary program, which got me again during a test post of the intro yesterday. I couldn’t remove it, because one of the key lines for deleting a diary wasn’t showing up on my computer! So my apologies for those of you who found today’s intro a bit....familiar.
Cheers to those who commented in the test-that-went-wrong diary. Lots of good laughs there!
The floor is open! What do you have to Cheer and Jeer about today?
