While the great minds of the community ponder what happened to the community, lesser lights are left to wonder if we as a community are richer or poorer now that Billmon has, indeed, finally decided to pull the plug.
Billmon will be missed. His kind will not pass this way again. At least until another Billmon appears. And judging from the whining going on about newbies, low UID's, FP'ers, people who for one reason or another refuse to get with the program, one has to wonder whether this site is likely to attract anyone of Billmon's abilities again.
No more Billmon below..
We're always right, we're never wrong and Daily Kos is the best site on the whole internet. God that kind of crap makes me spew. Unless, it's coming from me.
December 31st, 2006 in Tokyo is coming to an end; and I know that 2007, though sure to be rich in many ways, will be poorer if Billmon really has pulled the plug. This Billmon wikpedia entry is all I could locate.
This diary is just one little thank-you to a fine blogger who seems to have truly had enough. For the last few days his site had a "That's All Folk's" cartoon posted.
Like a lover tracing the outlines of a photograph, I clicked on a few links. Trying to make Billmon magically re-appear via Glenn Greenwald or Atrios.
Not to be. And it seems the Left-coaster has noticed Billmon has left the building.
What can I say. Thanks Billmon. The humorless crowd engaged in "constructing" a program for positive change will be hard pressed to win many converts with their admonitions. I'm going to miss you buddy.
Your caustic, withering take on life was worth more to me than all the earnest commentary I'll read in the coming year.
If you're reading this, by chance, please consider returning in another incarnation.
God knows we're going to need you and your sense of humor.
If you care to read some parting words from Billmon fans...
