I'm going to break one of my rules (and pretty much a DKos rule) and kinda go off topic. I saw one of the best movies I've ever seen two nights ago and it's STILL in my head. Seems worth sharing (and there are similarities to today) People are raving about it so it's not like I'm alone. It's not a movie for everyone (there are some graphic scenes) but it is remarkable. I'm talking about Pan's Labyrinth http://www.panslabyrinth.com/
I wasn't expecting this gem. My Gf's brother suggested we go. He's a nice guy but his movies tend towards anime so I suggested we bag it, and let him go. Luckily for me, Cel would have none of that, and dragged my sleepy ass to the movie. I wasn't sleepy long. I knew nothing about the film and that's probably best. It is an almost perfect movie. More on the flip
This movie works on every level. it's a movie, it's real, it's fantasy, it's brutal in parts, subtle and breathtaking in others. One identifies with the character, the situation and it's engrossing. Are there similarities to today. One can draw them but i didn't. I was just absorbed. Each of us makes our own decisions about movies but even tho you don;t know me, it's worth seeing. Until now i hadn't even checked the reviews. I use Rotten Tomatoes and Pan scores a whopping 97%. We agree, that's nice. 108 reviews, 105 positive. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/...
How about you? have you seen it? Share and pass it along. Some may say it is sad, I came away hopeful. Of course, this begs for a poll.
