(We interupt Omen's initial Transformers-inspired rant to bring you something more interesting and hopefully less esoteric. Enjoy!)
What. The. Hell.
"I think Iraq will not be as strong an issue in the 2008 elections..I think the surge will fail and the president will have no choice but to begin removing troops."
(Assuming you haven't read the title, please read on to find the orginator of our mystery comment!)
Novak? Nope. Cheney? C'mon; like he cares about Democrats (or Republicans, or Americans or humans). Dean? I would have thought so only if I read the last sentence.
Chuck Schumer.
Well, Chuck, you fooled me. And all of India, apparently:
The survey also found the war in Iraq to be the most dominating factor in the polls. When asked in an open-ended format to name the most important problem facing the country, 42 per cent of the public spoke of the war.
Soooo...Gallup says 36%, and the story above says 42%. Exactly what are we missing, Chuck? And why bring this up now, when the Democrats collective stance on Iraq has the people behind them?
Could it be...
Schumer spoke as he kicked off a media blitz for his new book, "Positively American," (Rodale Books), which makes the case that Democrats can build a permanent majority in America by . . . being more like Chuck.
Nothing like peddling a new book to change one's perspective. I'm sorry, Chuck, but Iraq is here to stay. Why? Because Bush pretty much said so; and as long as he's in the White House it isn't going to change. So as long as Bush want to stay in Iraq, the war there is an issue. And as long as it's an issue, those who call for a change in direction will have more grassroot support then those who want stay the escalated course.
