The drug war has been one of the grossest misconceptions of the century. When any politician or government official present any condition which hints at a dependency on a substance they fall back onto that gross generalization "Drug Addiction". What they don't bother to do in most cases is make a study of what drugs are being used by the more violent individuals when they use that buzz word. They don't weigh the balance of what purposes some people who need chemicals to live or at least to maintain a pain free life, hence doctor incarceration the new fad of the drug czars.
They march on with their "Drugs are bad" propaganda while spending your tax dollars to run incredibly retarded advertising. If we continue to follow this line of crap fed to us like sheep we will end up in a society where drinking water with the wrong nutrients will get you a ticket if not incarcerated.
I think it would be wise to say that in any society that we would doom someone over what they put into themselves when they are harming no one but themselves then that society is doomed as well.
I love how evangelical Christians attack this issue (drugs) like it is a bomb just waiting to go off. I am pretty damn sure that the biggest message god ever gave anyone was "Choice". Instead these people go on to try and control every aspect of human life thru law hence defying god themselves and muffling any choice you might have had in the first place. I gave up religion in the sense that these people celebrate it long ago but I did understand enough to get that out of it.
Marijuana has to be one of the more attacked drugs with less reason to than any of them. Marijuana is not a gateway drug. Marijuana is a hell of a lot safer than alcohol. Marijuana has medical uses. Marijuana is just a freaking plant. More people end up in court and in jail over marijuana than any other drug. These are not violent people. Usually they are quite non-violent and sometimes it’s just a cancer patient looking for relief. Yes even the cancer patient ends up in court or jail over marijuana. Last year more than 750,000 people were put in jail for marijuana alone. The court system is more flooded with them. Business is good for the government and they want to keep it that way. The government makes huge sums of money off these people.
Now let’s discuss the newest fad that seems to coincide with the Bush administrations time in control. Doctor prosecution over prescribing drugs to patients asking for relief of pain. First of all most of the more effective pain control medication is classified as an opiate and a narcotic. Those two words will drive the controlling types crazy... Oh My God! narcotic! opiate! They are effective and if a person wants relief from some annoying pain this is what they want. Such names as Hydrocodone, Vicodin, Oxycotin and demoral are to name a few. The way an opiate works is the longer you take it the more you need! So when those controlling law makers see those huge bottles of pills they scream "Crime" or "Drug Addiction". Sometimes these patients stop taking the medication for a while just to lose tolerance. Which means they endure excruciating pain and not to mention withdrawal symptoms.
The doctors themselves when they get caught up in this madness get very gun-shy. Haven't you noticed how hard it is to get pain relief pills from your dentist or doctor lately? They used to give me Tylenol 3 as a door prize at the dentist office when I was younger.
When the doctors get taken into custody over "Drugs" their house and all they own is taken from them. Even before prosecution. This is how gross the drug policy operates.
Drugs themselves are enough for police to invade your privacy and right to due-process. This is obviously blatantly unconstitutional. Yet it goes on and on. All a person needs do to aggravate you is toss some pills or a pound of marijuana in your window one day and call the law. You could end up in jail and all your assets liquidated. Isn't that enough to make you get off your rump and say something about it??
Let’s stop this 35 year madness. Let’s stop trying to control what someone does to themselves. Let’s start helping instead of hurting. Vote for people that openly support ending the drug war.
