The number of US soldiers killed in Iraq is staggering. Lately, I have been trying to put that number in perspective by making it a point to personalize these brave individuals. One of these soldiers is named Cpl. Kenneth Tyler Butler. He was from East Liverpool, OH. Here is what I have been able to learn about him.
Cpl. Kenneth Tyler Butler when 21 years old when he died in Iraq. His humvee veered off a road and flipped upside down into 10 feet of water. Cpl. Kenneth Tyler Butler drowned.
In three days, Cpl. Kenneth Tyler Butler was to return home to East Liverpool, OH to see his infant son for the first time. Cpl. Butler's 19 year old wife had just given birth to their first son. Cpl. Butler met his wife, Ashley Butler, while both were serving with the 57th Military Police Company in Daegu, Korea. Their son's name is Austin. He will never know his dad. His dad never even saw his son in person.
Cpl. Butler went to East Liverpool High School. He played football and wrestled. He was a member of the National Honor Society.
Cpl. Butler's friends, army buddies and family turned out for his funeral. They honored a man who gave everything for us. People from all over Eastern Ohio honored this great hero as well. I am posting this tribute to Cpl. Butler in hopes that the Daily Kos community will honor him as well.
