News networks scoff at the King of Jordan addressing a joint session of congress. King Abdullah II of Jordan mapped a new road to peace, today.
The King of Jordan gave a very good talk to a joint session of congress this morning that was carried on C-SPAN. I found it interesting, but not surprising that the cable news networks chose not to carry the speech, even though it dealt with the most importand issue of the day. Rather, CNN, FOX and MSNBC were busy with tabloid fodder, as usual.
It was also interesting to see the members’ reactions to some of what the King was addressing and their lack of response when others were applauding. Mr. Lieberman sat on his hands a considerable amount of the time and only rose for ovations so as not to look totally out of place.
We need to hear more from Jordan. King Abdullah II appears to have a true insight to some prospect for peace in the Middle East.
