This is a short diary containing two somewhat unrelated points.
First, I have a link to the video of the interview this morning with Elizabeth and Cate Edwards on Good Morning America. It's about 5 minutes or less, and anyone interested can watch it. There will be more tonight with Elizabeth Edwards on Nightline on ABC.
Second, I have news of an important endorsement of John Edwards from California.
Anyone interested in visiting and having a nice conversation, come on around after the fold.
First, Elizabeth & her daughter Cate Edwards were interviewed by ABC's Cynthia McFadden. Here is the video from Good Morning America this morning:
ABC News
It is a wonderful interview. Among other things, Elizabeth says that if anything happens to her, Cate Edwards will help raise Jack and Emma Claire.
Second, the campaign announced today that California Democratic leader John Burton has endorsed John Edwards and will help lead Edwards' campaign in California.
Speaking of John Burton, John Edwards said,
"John has spent his life fighting for those without a voice - our children, people struggling with illness and people living in poverty. I am honored to have his support and look forward to working with him change our country, so every America has the opportunity to succeed."
People in California know Burton. He has been a Democratic leader in California for more than 40 years, having served in the U.S. House of Representatives, the California Assembly and the California State Senate, where he served as President Pro Tem from 1998 to 2004.
In endorsing John Edwards, Burton said:
I supported John Edwards in the 2004 primaries and I'm proud to support him again because I believe he is the best candidate to lead our country and the best chance Democrats have at taking back the White House. Our country desperately needs John's leadership - he has a clear vision to change our country and detailed plans to provide universal health care and end poverty in America. He is committed to helping working and middle class Americans and building a country that works for every American."
California Democratic Leader John Burton Endorses John Edwards For President
The campaign goes on. California's primary matters this year. It is in early February, I think.
Can any of you California folks tell us more about John Burton? Is he related to Philp Burton?
