The local media is finally reacting to several outrageous statements by State Senator Jim Whitehead, the republican front runner for the GA-10 special election.
In its editorial the Athens Banner-Herald gives Whitehead an anti-endorsement.
My favorite quote:
"...what D.C. doesn't need is another empty suit opting to play politics over sound policy."
The background for the criticism are outrageous claims like:
"Iraq has not been a big thing in our district" or "left-wing political activists (are) intentionally registering illegal aliens to vote, including known al-Qaida terrorists"
Whitehead is also taking a pounding from more editors. Read the Flagpole and the Atlanta Magazine.

Jim Whitehead’s verbal gaffes, outrageous accusations and claims go on and on. Read this diary for a good overview.
Whitehead is going to continue to say outrageous things with nothing to back it up. And when someone catches it on camera. He'll be as politically dead as George Allen
This is a winnable race. And our chances only gets better as the media might not only endorse Marlow, but also inform the public what kind of candidate Jim "let's invade Venezuela" Whitehead is.
And the other republicans might be even worse. Take Bill Greene that wants to be elected to Congress to "keep it from raising taxes and give it as marriage benefits to homosexuals".

We have just little over a month left until the election... It's a winnable race. Clinton carried the district twice, and it went democratic in several state wide races in 2006.
