as predicted; bush's support of the immigration 'reform' bill has split the gop
the wrong wing of the party will of course never accept any sort of legalization of current undocumented workers because their opposition is due to 'cultural issues'. that's republican-speak for 'we don't like no mexicans in our country no way no how'. unfortunately for them, the corporate paymasters who own the gop require cheap and disposable labor in their 'free market' quest for profits.
the upshot:
34% is the lowest level of support ever recorded by rasmussen in the daily tracking poll for the president. some interesting points; the drop is due to losing the support of his own party. even worse, these are the hardcore of his support; white men.
i like this so far, and i think that bush will soon break into the 20's unless someone can figure out some sort of face saving deal. the odds of which i think are zero.
for those not familiar with rasmussen; they are an excellent firm who have consistently produced excellent and reliable numbers.
i'm off to celebrate, free pie for everyone!
EDIT: i do agree that rasmussen has a 'conservative' pedigree, however looking at that their numbers in relation to actual election results, they are very accurate. i'm not a big fan of number crunching in general, i just like stuff that works and their numbers seem to hold up pretty well viewed from a historical perspective. if you're still unhappy; subtract 3 points from their current rating and that should get you in the 'conventional wisdom' zone.
