Medicare Part D coverage going up in 2008
Volunteers for Nebraska Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) were informed in Lincoln, today of the new rates for the standard benefits. These changes will mean that seniors will be paying more for their medications in 2008
The new rates are deductible in 2008 is $275 ($265 in 2007); initial coverage limit $2510 ($2400 in 2007); out of pocket maxium $4050 ($3850 last year.
In addition, monthly premiums will no doubt increase as well the cost of the medications. Currently in Nebraska only one plan offers coverage for all drugs in the gap. (Who knows about next year?) The savings for seniors on this program are being eroded.
It is time to let our Representatives and Senators that this is intolerable. How can they spend billions on war and short change our seniors?
