I apologize for the short entry, but I am not as adept at laying out the Abramoff scandals as others on this blog. However, this report on CNN caught my eye today despite the fray about the Iraq Funding Bill.
Snip - Susan Ralston, a former top assistant to President Bush's political adviser, Karl Rove, is willing to tell Congress what she knows about contacts between White House officials and disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff - but only if she's granted immunity from prosection, her lawyer has told congressional investigators.
In light of the results of the Monica Goodling testimony today, this seems just a little too convenient for my tastes, but if the investigations are having any impact at all, what are the odds Ralston is hedging her bets and working on a little CYA?
However the Dems aren't so eagre to accept this particular offer of testimony in exchange for immunity:
Snip - In his memo, Waxman told his colleagues that before considering Ralston's immunity request, "the committee should seek to obtain information about the relationship between Mr. Abramoff and the White House from other sources."
This makes me wonder if they believe they have enough to go on without Ralston's testimony.
I apologize for the short entry today, but I am at work and unable to stay for much longer. I also did a search and came up empty handed. If this has been diaried already I'll be happy to remove it.
