Palast, who uncovered the Bush/Cheney 'caging list' scam in October 2004 for the BBC
met with Conyers yesterday. Among the matters they discussed - Monica Goodling's testimony about Griffin's role in the caging lists, which can be found at judiciary.house.gov.
Dalia Lithwick at Slate reported yesterday on the growing scandal, linking to RFK Jr's comments on Palast's investigation of the scheme.
And late yesterday - Griffin resigns!
So here's one for the good guys. Wonder what excuse Rove will offer? That Griffin was needed to run Thompson's campaign?
Here's Palast's news release, below:
US Attorney Tim Griffin resigned today hours after BBC Television announced that Congressman John Conyers had requested the evidence obtained by BBC reporter Greg Palast of the former Rove aide's involving in 'caging' voters in the 2004 presidential election.
The key evidence leading to the request, part of the widening investigation of the firing of prosecutors, was reported by Palast in his new book, Armed Madhouse. Conyers is an avid reader of Palast's investigative reports and viewer of his the television exposes for BBC 'Newsnight' which are re-broadcast in the USA on 'Democracy Now.'
Palast met in New York with Conyers Thursday evening to review the evidence in Armed Madhouse and to film an investigative story with the committee chairman for the BBC.
Note: This diary by Palast's literary agent who's off to Book Expo, won't be around to comment, alas. Palast is speaking tonight at SUNY New Paltz along with other leading voting rights activists, for those in the region:
