It's official. The corporate media is dead, at least their credibility is dead. How do I know? Because, I find myself siding with OJ Simpson, Paris Hilton, and Tommy Chong in the great Paris Hilton-a-thon debate.
Let's think about that. I, and many others I'll bet, am in agreement with OJ fucking Simpson. Nobody is more repulsive than this man, except, of course, the media.
OJ says:
When Paris Hilton was going to jail last week, more people knew about that than knew that we were sending people into space that day. It has replaced what is real news. There was always a place for it, but it was (gossip writer) Rona Barrett. Now it is the equivalent of (late, high-brow journalist) Edward R. Murrow reporting it today.
Spot on, OJ. I hate to agree with a monster like you, but you're right.
Paris says:
I must also say that I was shocked to see all of the attention devoted to the amount of time I would spend in jail for what I had done by the media, public and city officials. I would hope going forward that the public and the media will focus on more important things like the men and women serving our country in Iraq and other places around the world.
Paris, you couldn't be more right. You go, girl.
While these swipes from Paris and OJ may have injured the media, it was my man Tommy Chong who drove the stake into the corporate media's skeevy heart.
RIP Corporate Media. This is what you get when you jump the shark and don't quite make it.
UPDATE:MSTMZ and Fox is reporting that Paris Hilton is still in jail! We're still waiting for CNN to confirm.
