The subject is, of course, very old news to everyone here in the blog world and certainly Daily Kos, but I was truly astounded by the tone and adjectives used in an AP article in the Yahoo top 5 at the moment.
Bush Dismisses CIA Leak as Old News
The presser is where Bush tried to explain how the lack of progress in Iraq is really progress, but the questions are about the Plame leak.
First and foremost, let me give props to Jennifer Loven who is credited with writing the article. It opens like this:
President Bush always said he would wait to talk about the CIA leak case until after the investigation into his administration's role. On Thursday, he skipped over that step and pronounced the matter old news hardly worth discussing.
Jennifer, way to call him on what he says versus what he does.
Follow me over the fold for some more goodies.
Check out this description of one Q & A:
Asked about that during a wide-ranging news conference, the president gave a dodgy answer.
(emphasis mine)
Then:
He didn't even acknowledge the undisputed fact that someone working for him was the source, saying only that "perhaps somebody in the administration did disclose the name of that person." (emphasis mine)
And the kicker:
"I've often thought about what would have happened had that person come forth and said, `I did it,'" Bush said, despite the fact that Armitage and perhaps the others did just that. (emphasis mine)
How about that? A reporter covering the president actually includes the known facts instead of regurgitating whatever he said.
