Recently, I corrected Bill O'Reilly's false assumptions about why Senator Biden will be unable to make it to the YearlyKos convention this weekend. Not surprisingly, he seems more confident in his gut than the truth.
It seems that Mr. O'Reilly just doesn't get it. So, Bill, you're on notice. The Biden for President Campaign will be at YearlyKos.
From Media Matters:
Also, discussing the Democratic presidential candidates' decision to attend the YearlyKos Convention, O'Reilly claimed that Daily Kos "has intimidated the Democratic presidential candidates with the exception of Senator [Joseph] Biden [D-DE]," who has decided not to attend the convention. O'Reilly later said the Democrats are "afraid of them. They're afraid that they'll get smeared." O'Reilly similarly lauded Biden for not attending YearlyKos on the July 30 edition of his program. However, as Media Matters also noted, Biden's campaign -- in a diary entry on Daily Kos -- issued a response to the Factor segment describing O'Reilly's comments as "reckless" and "a total misrepresentation."
While Senator Biden can't make it to YearlyKos, I've cleared my schedule for the next two days to attend the convention with two other staffers. Yes, it would have been great to have the candidate in attendance, and I wish that we could have made it happen. But I and my staff look forward to meeting everyone at the convention, to speak about the Senator and his plan to bring our troops home without leaving chaos behind in Iraq. And, most importantly, to demonstrate that Democrats - while not always united on every issue - are united in embracing new venues for open dialogue to better our communities and our country.
See you in Chicago,
