Who would have thought it?
Conservative humor is about as funny as a crutch.
The heavily promoted conservative news/humor show created by FOX has finally (after the least funny run in television history) been allowed to fade into oblivion.
"The Half Hour News Hour" is no more.
Even with conservative luminaries such as Rush and Coulter appearing they could not generate an audience to make the show self-sustaining.
It begs the question... Are conservative comedians simply not as funny as liberal comedians, or is it the subject matter itself. Is liberalism/progressivism simply harder to lampoon becasue it's fact based?
Maybe conservatives are just so serious that they can't enjoy a laugh unless it's so mean spirtied that it is not acceptable to air on national cable television. Perhaps conservative jokes and snark are forever resticted to the venue or AM radio. Perhaps, like Howard Stern, to be as offensive as their audience demands they'll eventually have to find a place on pay to listen radio.
From the reviews and autopsies that I've seen of the show, it seems to have suffered from some of the worst joke writting in the history of jokes. Is it possible that all the good writters in Hollywood (or where ever FOX had this show produced) are liberals? Perhaps it's progressive sabotage? Or maybe liberal writters just don't know how to write good solid conservative humor.
I think the format was too constrained by the usually liberal TV restrictions of not allowing snarky images such as burning crosses, and such hilarious words as nigger, wetback, bitch, faggot, and of course femanazi. A less restrictive format that allowed these humorious bits of the American experience would certainly have played better to the conservative/FOX news base for the show.
For those that can stomache it here are a few of their better (worse) clips:

It's a lot of video coverage with almost no humor at all.
In any case, good ridance.
