On September 11, 2007, the Hamilton County Democratic Party (Cincinnati) will commemorate the occasion of 9/11 by holding a Democratic Presidential straw poll. It’s time to talk seriously about new leadership in our country, and Ohio's voice is an important one that should be heard. While the Ohio Primary (March 5th) will be too late to influence the choice of nominees, Ohio will be important in the ultimate outcome of the 2008 presidential election. What Ohio thinks matters. And what you do matters as well.
The poll will be part of a "Perfect Storm" evening during which Doug Kelly, the Executive Director of the Ohio Democratic Party, will outline why Ohio will be the focus of the 2008 presidential campaigns and how the Democratic candidates can carry Ohio.
The evening will also include a presentation on how to become a delegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention and the developing plans for Hamilton County in the presidential campaign. The event will take place at the 20th Century Theater at 3021 Madison Road in Oakley Square, in Cincinnati. Doors open and straw poll balloting begins at 6:15 p.m. The program will kick off at 7:00 p.m.
The straw poll will be conducted on official ballots printed by the Hamilton County Board of Elections and paid for by the Democratic Party. Voting will take place on Board of Elections equipment as part of the Board’s Voter Outreach Program to familiarize voters with the new elections equipment.
Congressional Candidates for 2008 and local candidates for 2007 will be introduced as well. The Cincinnati area has a good chance to retake two seats in Congress next year, the time to start is now. It's time to move on.
Be there or be square. Please come if you are in the neighborhood and wish us well if you are not.
