After almost ten years in IT, my job was eliminated in May.Along with my job went the health insurance for myself, my 17 year old daughter and my bi polar husband. Cobra was too expensive so we actually ended up on 2 different policies; one for him that covered the 7 different medications he was on and another policy and a different insurer for myself and our daughter. On July 29 he took his own life. His policy was paid up through the end of July: he took his own life two days before his insurance expired. My daughter and I found his body in the bath tub.
At the time of his death we were being seen at no charge by an incredible Psychiatrist. We found this Dr through a friend after I went through every single Psychiatrist in the Personal Choice network to find him help. Not one single shrink was taking new patients. But this diary isn't about the sad state of our health care especially in regards to mental health..Its about SCHIP...Apparently we aren't destitute enough to qualify and we already HAVE insurance through a private insurer.
Eventually I will be ok.I will find another job WITH insurance, help my daughter get into college and make a new life for myself without my husband. But it would be nice to have my daughters insurance covered thrugh this program. We will be OK. Until then...I have a message to all the politicians and the idiot in the White House who just vetoed this bill..
Go f**k yourselves...
